W1_TRI_ Tuckman Analysis Mahakam13

It was stated by Bruce Tuckman in 1965 that teams normally go through four stages of development: Forming, Storming, Norming and Performing. A decade later, Tuckman updated the model with fifth stage, Adjourning, to describe the break up team after project completed. For 40 years, that model has become reference in many modern corporates in analyzing their team growth.

Test Result
I was assigned to use the Tuckman model to stage the Mahakam13 team, a new team that just lived last week. It took about 20 minutes full time to complete the test with our preferable answer. Here is the result of the test:
·         Forming               : 24
·         Storming              : 21
·         Norming              : 28
·         Performing         : 31
What are we?
It was excited seeing the result that the mahakam13 team has positioned in Performing stage. Referring to Donclark (2010), the Performing includes the feelings and behaviors as follows:
ü  Members have insights into personal and group processes
ü  An understanding of each other's strengths and weakness
ü  Constructive self-change
ü  Ability to prevent or work through group problems
ü  Close attachment to the team
Conclusion
Although the team is already in Performing stage, the results still indicate it is also in transition period between Forming-Storming and Norming-Performing. The team growth is in forming due to its age. On the other side, the team is also in performing since it successfully delivered the project plan whereas the team wasn’t in face to face period. In the same time, the team still engages its norm for all members (Norming).
However, the result will be more accurate if the test completed by all members. The total value from each member can represent the growth of team stage based on Tuckman model.

  1. Hmmmmmm....... Pak Trian.......

You did a nice job BUT.......

Didn't I provide a template to you which contained 7 steps? (See Engineering Economy, page 7, Figure 1-1)

And didn't I HIGHLY recommend that you follow that template at least for the first month or two until you have mastered usng it?

And didn't I explain to you that the reason for doing this is to help you prepare for the very challenging "Part 2" narrative question on your EVP, PSP and CEP exams?

I will accept this weeks posting with the note that for follow on weeks, if you do not follow the step by step process, your posting will be rejected.

Other than that, it was well written and properly cited, so the problem is not your CONTENT but your FORMAT!!

Looking for great "Leadership By Example" from you!!! You did great in the class and I hope you keep it up during the Distance Learning mode.
