W1_DI_TUCKMAN ASSESMENT

1.     Problem Definition & Possible Alternative

The first blog posting assessment for MAHAKAM13 team is to understand the team development model using Tuckman’s stage which found by Professor Bruce Wayne Tuckman in 1965. In the beginning Tuckman’s model consists of 4 stages as follow: Forming, Storming, Norming, & Performing, however in 1970 he added Adjourning as a fifth stage.

2.    The Result & What we are?

I spent approximately 30 minutes to answer all of the 32 questions of Team Development Survey created by Donald Clark with the following result:

Figure 2: Survey Result

It is very surprising to find out the total highest score is in stage “Performing”, seeing that we just started together as a team for a week. The following conditions that describe our team:
·         Team members are able to work appropriate on their capacity and skills.
·         Responsible and committed with each deliverables task.
·         Members have high confidence.
·         Team leader can easily delegated work to each members.

This condition is a good indicated and show our teamwork as a solid team to achieve both of our main goals, as follows:
  •   To pass at least on certification exam on the first attempt.
  •  To generate return on training investment (RoTI).

3.     Conclusion & kind of leadership style
Base on “The Harsey-Blanchard Situational Leadership Theory” by considering the survey characteristic (Performing) and team condition that showed maturity conditions in level M4, the most suitable leadership type in MAHAKAM13 is “Delegating or Empowering”.

  1. Excellent first posting, Pak Irawan!!!

You could have followed our step by step process as shown on page 7 of your Engineering Economy book, Figure 1-1 a bit better, but otherwise, you did fine.

I am also very happy to see you citing a MINIMUM of 3 references and you are using APA format just fine.

Carry on and now that you have your first blog posting behind you, feel free to pick any topic that relates to your working or personal world, which can demonstrate to me that you are actually using the tools/techniques you are learning about to generate a favorable RoTI>

Again nice job and looking forward to seeing more postings in the future.
